April 30, 09

Haha, eyo guys! Suzette is here! Sorry for posting this thing so late. I'm a busy girl... we can't do anything about it. LOL!

oKaY,

Today, we got our "Exploration of Space & Low Earth Orbit" test back; and we corrected it. (as you can see, Ms. K kindly posted the answers below). Next, we went over the "Activity: X-ray Analysis". It's on the Health Physics booklet on page 10. We identified the possible problems in each x-rays.

Then, we were told to read Chapter Two of Health Physics booklet (that's if you've finished reading the first chapter.) At the same time, Ms. K gave us an activity worksheet: "Sort and Predict" and that's it.

It's probably too late already but just in case...

Reminder: Compare and Contrast worksheet is due tomorrow and Sort and Predict on Monday.

And uhh... the NEXT SCRIBE IS.. (drum roll please)

dun dun dun dun....

The beautiful witch of the south, NELSA! haha

Repentence for being late...

Yeah, my bad on not scribing for Friday. Totally forgot about it. Well i remembered now and I'm doing the post for today and Friday.

So on Friday, let see what we did on Friday.... I think we watched a movie, hoping that I'm right, more about the gravitational stuff and things alike and the we went over the questions on the review 8. If you want the answers, it's on Mrs Kozoriz's Slides. Then we had a bit of review on the derivatives of the formulas that we're using and that was Friday.

Today, we watched a movie about the... kc135, I think, (man, i have the worst memory ever) and basically took notes and things alike on that. The movie talked about a couple people making this project so they could go a "zero grav" situation to test out their experiment. The thought that light would give of light the same way and the heat would not make the air rise. Seems that the heat was pretty much equally distributed in "zero grav".

And that's what we did today, good luck on the test tomorrow and next sci be is ALDRIN S, MUHAHHA you have to double scribe like me.

042209 A visit from Mr. Same-same

Hey guys, it's Ms. "trips-a-lot". So if your here I guess your wondering what we did today.
Let me recall;
- We watched Mr. Same-same, Mr. Same-same talked about satellite motion. And took ten points on the video. Geeze I handed in my points to the Ms.K and I can't really remember what exactly what it was about. I don't want to tell you the wrong thing so. Well anyways if you missed it you should ask her to let her see if you can watch. It was really helpful.

-Then we corrected the Concept-Development Practice Page: Chapter 14: Satellite Motion
I'm really sorry about my spelling. I can't spell for squat. If anybody can't understand just leave a comment and I'll try to fix it to the best of my abilities.

I think I cover everything we did today.
Finish your chapter 8 review

Gravitational Potential Energy!

Hai gaiz! Today we went over the Gravitational Potential Energy worksheet that came with the booklet notes from yesterday! Refer to the slides to get the answers ;).

I'd also like to note of where some of the masses came from, since I'm sure some of you (Does anyone even read this blog, aside from Ms. K?). For example, the first question. If you were wondering where the second mass came from, its basically the mass of the earth, and that is on the formula sheet! The radius of the earth also came from the formula sheet! I looove formula sheet!

Moving on, after finishing worksheet, we got four new handouts (one of them was a small booklet) on gravitational PE! I believe the handouts included notes, yes..yes they did. There are also some questions to work on amongst the handouts. Make sure you do them, kay?

Oh, and test is on Tuesday. Okay? Next scribe is "trips-a-lot" Jennifer. Have a good night everyone.

Gravitational Potential Energy

April 20th, 2009

In class we:

  • 1) Went over the test: Circular Motion, Work, & Energy.(Ms. Kozoriz posted the corrections.)
  • 2)Went over the remaining textbook problems: Chapter 8, Page 172, Questions 1-5 and 9-12.

The answers were:

i. Tj = 12 years
ii. 3.83 x 10^-3
iv. 4.23 years
v. Ts = 0.35 Tm
ix. Fg = 8.8 x 10^-10 N
x. Fg = 6.5 x 10-8 N
xi. a) Fg = 3.13 x 10^26 N
b) Fg = 490 N
xii. m = 9.01 x 10^-21 Kg

  • 3) Handed out notes: Gravitational Potential Energy.
  • 4) Started a question sheet: Gravitational Potential Energy Questions.
  • 5) Started another question sheet: Chapter 8 Review
  • 6) Discussed the Gravitational Potential Energy Well:
-Ep = mgh (holds true for small heights)
-Ep > 0, positive value, above ground level
-Ep = 0, at ground level
-Ep< 0, negative value, below ground level
For shorter distances:
-Fg = Gm1m2/R^2
-Vector
-Inverse Square
-F α 1-R^2
-Force, measured in Newtons, N
For greater distances:
-Ep = Gm1m2/R
-Scalar
-Inverse
-E α 1/R
-Energy, measured in Joules, J

Wednesday, April something 2009

I think this was the day I volunteered to scribe but was, like, busy or something. Sooooo, supposedly this was the day when we did a lab. Lab was like you take a paper and cardboard thingy 2 thumbtacks a 30 cm string and then you pin a thumbtack into the paper, with the cardboard behind it so it stays...... solid... and then ummmm that would be like, the focus point, where you draw a sun
and then you put another thumbtack somewhere 5-9 cm away I think? so after you did that, make an ellipse with the string, and uhhhhhhh yeah
After that you had to figure out all this mathematical stuff and answer the question sheet thing.
I finished first, so I'm the best.
To find the force thingy majigger
I think it was like.... 1 divided by the shorter distance thing divided by the longer distance thing? Ok well the lab was all we did that day. Tah dah.

Thursday, April 16, 2009: Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation

Hiya! Jasmin's going to scribe today because she feels like it. Today we some-what started the new unit of Universal Gravitation. To start the class we watched a video about Kepler's three Laws. We were required to take 5 to 7 notes about it and submit it to Ms. K. Ms. K. also talked about Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation. The Slide below show's the formula and the value of 'G'. Remember that 'm' has to be in kilograms and 'R' has to be in metres. To end of class off we picked up a worksheet called Chapeter 11: Gravitational Interactions and were assigned to do questions 1-5, 9-15 on page 172 in the green textbook. Enjoy! =D

Next Scribe is Joseph... or me again. Which ever comes first. =D

A late Scribe Post

Ahaha I was supposed to write about what happened in class on March 27, but I just had to spend my time sleeping all day on Spring Break. I made a decision to do the blog on the 2nd Saturday of Spring Break, but the blues got into me.

Summary of March 27's class:
As it was the last day before Spring Break, it was a lazy afternoon. Ms. Kozoriz gave us 3 handouts which includes: Lab Sheet, a 5-page work sheet(s), and one of those fill in the blank paragraphs. So if you were absent that day, be sure to ask Ms. K for those sheets! The Lab that we did was about Potential and Kinetic energy. Yeah about 1/4 of the class weren't present that day so I guess this was your late overview of that missed class. You didn't miss a lot of content.

See ya and good luck on the test on Monday!

Work/Energy

HI
On Monday, we corrected Study Guide 10 and chapter 11 Study Guide. Ms.K posted the answers for the two Study Guides. She also gave us the Investigations lab and the teacher gave 2 different sheet. half of the class got 8-2 worksheet and the other half got 8-1. then on Tuesday we worked on the lab. don't forget to do the sheet.
The next scribe is jeck
